Q&A

Answering questions.

About the site

Q: What is this site? — A: A website.

Q: That's not an answer. — A: That's not a question.

Q: Who is it for? — A: Me. You are welcome to it.

Q: How often is it updated? — A: Whenever I remember that it exists. Don't expect more.

Q: Is there a newsletter? — A: Nobody wants that.

Q: Is this a blog? — A: It has a journal. The distinction matters to me.

Q: Why does this site not want anything from me? — A: Why, do you have something good?

The Oracle

Q: Is the Oracle real? — A: The Oracle is as real as you need it to be.

Q: That's a dodge. — A: The Oracle taught me that.

Q: Can the Oracle answer a question that isn't yes-or-no? — A: It can't really answer one that is, so.

Q: The Oracle told me to go outside. Should I? — A: As the Oracle would say, you know the answer.

Q: Is the wisdom generator the same as the Oracle? — A: No. One is consulted. The other is dispensed. Please don't confuse them in front of it.

Q: Where does the wisdom come from? — A: The wisdom store.

Q: Some of the wisdom contradicts other wisdom. — A: Yes.

The Judgments and the Court

Q: What scale are these rated on? — A: Ten.

Q: Two entries are rated eight billion. — A: Correct.

Q: One is rated negative one million. — A: Also correct. Move on.

Q: Can I appeal a ranking? — A: No. There is, however, a court in which you can appeal.

Q: Do appeals ever succeed? — A: I've been known to change my mind.

Q: I wanted to appeal the dogs and it wouldn't let me. — A: Correct.

Q: Why not? — A: Some rankings are not up for discussion, they are a matter of objective truth.

Q: Can I suggest something to be rated? — A: Yes, one line, no argument. The argument is what the court is for, and the court only hears things already judged.

Q: What if I submit the same thing twice? — A: It waits its turn once.

Q: How long until my submission is judged? — A: It will be judged whenever it is judged.

The goose

Q: There was a goose. — A: Was there?

Q: Where did the goose go? — A: The basement.

Q: What basement? — A: —

Q: I caught the goose. Does anything happen? — A: Something happened. It happened where he came from, and only for you.

Q: Can I see the goose again? — A: Unfortunately, if you are around long enough, you will.

Q: Is there a faster way? — A: Yes.

Q: What is it? — A: No.

Technical, sort of

Q: Is there a dark mode? — A: Yes. You're welcome.

Q: Do you track me? — A: No.

Escalating / fourth wall

Q: Did anyone actually ask these? — A: No.

Q: No one? — A: Well, I did.

Q: That's bleak. — A: That's not a question.
